- Throughout his career, Lautrec was fascinated with ladies of the stage. He executed many "on stage" portraits but few will rival the brilliance of "May Belfort". She is shown here, on stage, holding a small black kitten. The kitten's wild eyes stare out at the audience while reflecting the footlights.
